Maureen, Many thanks indeed for your response to my question on "India to Uganda." Maureen pointed me to the FIBIwiki page http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=East_Africa on East Africa, which has a link to the East African Cemeteries and Memorials page http://www.eamemorials.co.uk/index.html. There I was able to find one memorial of importance to me - that of Hope Moresby Talbot, buried at St. Paul's Cathedral, Namirembe, Kampala. Maureen also pointed me to the RG-36 colonial BMD records on http://www.bmdregisters.co.uk/ a site run by http://www.thegenealogist.co.uk/ but, despite my best efforts, seemingly entirely separate. Lateral thinking then prompted me to look at www.familysearch.org, which does have a number of African records (use the "Browse by Location" facility), including death registers (1890-1977) and an index (1892-1977) and death notices (1904-1976) for Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). These have not been indexed but may be browsed. Here I was able to find another member of the family - George Blacquiere Talbot (Hope's brother). I was also surprised to see here the complete "old" IGI, which I had thought to have been lost altogether. Thank you once again Maureen.
