I wonder if anyone on the List might be able to help me with twoproblems that seem to have blocked me? 1. I have been looking for the parents of my ggfather, Michael Henry Cornelius b. 1848. I have found on LDS a Michael Cornelius who was married to a Mary Ann whodied in 1850 [Film: 498988]. And on the fibis site in Allen's Indian Mail - marriages for 1845: "Cornelius, M.J.H. to Maryann, relict of Mr Thos Lewis, at Calcutta". Is there anyway that I can find what the "M.J.H." might stand for and whether they were related to my Michael Henry? And which Cornelius family were they related to in Calcutta? If the "J" were for "Julius" I would be more certain! The second question relates to a damaged photograph which I think might be another ancestor, TW Skinner, who was a conductor in the Madras Artillery. The picture is of a man in a winged collar with a cap or kepi, seemingly with a fur band, a central piece that goes towards the top with a metal button in front, and to the left of the band is an oval embossed badge of sorts. I don't know whther a military man would have worn a white winged collar. Would anyone know what sort of headgear would have been worn by anon-commissioned officer in the Madras Artillery? Thank you, David Cornelius
