Information sought on the life and legal career of barrister Horace Edlin Mendies (1845-1925). He was the son of Edward Benjamin Mendies (18822-1895) and his first wife Sophia Constance Wittenbaker (1831-1863) and was educated at Doveton College and Calcutta University. Horace married Ella Louisa Nepos (1867-?) in 1884 in Calcutta but there is believed to be a previous marriage for which I have no details. Ella Louisa Nepos was the daughter of Vincent Nepos and Alice Olivia Bond (1842-1900) and her aunt Philomena Josephine Nepos (bon 1842) was married to Horace's maternal uncle George Wittenbaker (born 1833).
