Subject: British Indian Army WW2 My brother Bevis Breen joined the York and Lancaster Regiment in India shortly after his 18th birthday  ( Oct 19, 1925) in 1943 .  After a few weeks of  warfare training in the jungles of Mysore he was sent with his unit into active combat into Burma in March 1944 .  After 9 months, his unit was reduced to one third even with reinforcements and was sent back to India in Dec 13, 1944.  When the war ended in Aug. 1945, his unit was sent from India to Singapore. In July 1947, th e York and Lancaster Regiment returned to Britain and my brother with it wh ere he was demobilized. My brother died last year - Sep 18, 2012 in England.
