Leonie, I would say the best place to look would be the Mofussil section of the various editions of Thacker's Indian Directory, and look through 'Commercial' for Dehra Dun. In 1895 there was certainly one hotel, the 'Victoria', managed by Walter Francis Trotter; he was also there in 1879. There was also an establishment called 'Theodore's Lodge', proprietor Lalla Munee Ram. These are the only two establishments listed in 1895. I don't know of any other editions of Thacker on-line. There are further editions in the State Library of Victoria (1911, 1917, 1925, 1929, 1933), but they are held offsite and have to be ordered up.
