Hello fellow listers, I have encountered a number of newspaper notices that seem to describe the same individuals (dates and given names consistent) but with these two different surnames. I would be interested in hearing if there is other evidence of a name change of GAUMISSE to GOMES in Calcutta in the 1840-1850's; perhaps as an attempt to simplify the spelling but keeping the pronunciation. Thanks, Norm Ashton (logging in from Toronto and going through life like a porcupine in a room full of balloons!)
