Hi Sue, In my grandparents' case they married in 1906 in a church in Bombay, but reading through other family accounts in colonial times in NZ (where my grandparent's moved to after his term in the BI Army in India was completed) and in Tasmania where my other grandparents resided - and around Australian rural regions, it was quite common for a wedding to be held in the bride's family home and the visiting priest/minister to officiate for the ceremony.
