I have been reading the latest posts with great interest as I am trying to find more about my 2 x great grandmother - Emma. No surname so I am assuming that she is Indian or anglo indian, particularly in light of her baptismal entry. I have her burial entry for the Lower Circular Road Cemetery where I have a number of my family members buried. The entry states that she, Emma Hughes, died 1 December 1906 aged 75 years relict of F Cockburn A Hughes and I have a photo of her grave stone - large concrete slab with just Emma and the date of her death. Three other family members share the same tomb - son, daughter and son in law. Although I haven't found a marriage cert for Emma and Francis Cockburn A Hughes as yet, though the burial entry "relict" infers that they were. I have Emma's baptismal record and I can only deduce that she is my Emma as again there is no surname, but dying in 1906 aged 75 years = birth 1831 The entry reads St Stephen's Church, Kidderpore. When baptised: 12 September 1847; Said to be born: 1831; Child's Christian name: Emma; Sex: Girl; Parents' Name: Heathen; Abode: Garden Reach Occupation: Domestic Servant By Whom the Ceremony was Performed: F Fisher M A Can anyone tell me about Garden Reach. I have done some research, but I was wondering if there would be a record of servants somewhere so I might be able to find out Emma's Indian name or anything else about her. Of course info about either Francis or Emma would be wonderful. Emma has been my brick wall for years and her baptismal entry has provided more questions than answers!
