I apologise to anyone for whom the link https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1584960 to the Family Search "India Births and Baptisms" database did not work. It does for me, and I really don't know why it doesn't for others. But here is another way of getting to that database. When using Family Search I invariably start from https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list which I have saved in my LDS sub-folder in my Bookmarks folder (I use Google Chrome; Favourites if you're using Explorer). I do this because I'm somewhat old-fashioned and I like to know a) what is available and b) just what database I'm looking at. Once on that page you select the area of the world of interest to you from the list on the left-hand side of your screen - in this case "Asia & Middle East" - and then on the next screen you can see the 10 databases available - in the particular case of interest in this post "India Births and Baptisms." Incidentally, if you scroll down you will see the "legacy" database the International Genealogical Index, and this is listed whichever geographical area of the world you select. So for those of you still looking for a quick link to the old IGI, well, there it is. I also have this saved in my Bookmarks LDS sub-folder. The Family Search India databases are not quite identical to those on FindMyPast, but I find the FMP site so irritating to use that I always start with Family Search. Also, just in passing, I found some family in the two Zimbabwe (formerly Southern Rhodesia) databases on Family Search, and I don't think those are available anywhere else. I found that two families of interest to me moved at the end of the 19th century from India via the Straits Settlements to Africa, so these discoveries were a real bonus.
