The only cases I have heard about have been as a result of a personal visit, (and this was elsewhere in India, not in Kolkata}. Depending how the records are stored, you may also need to know the area of Calcutta he died in. If you are willing to spend money, you could investigate whether a company such as YourManIn India, which has a document procurement service, could act on your behalf. https://www.yourmaninindia.com/index.php. Please note I have never used this service myself, but heard about it some years ago from someone who also had not personally used it. Most churches/institutions in India will not respond to mail/emails. You are very lucky if you receive a reply.
