Hi Debra and listers Regarding DNA tests: I have had my DNA tested recently by both Ancestry and 23andme. The results were mostly similar, but there were some significant discrepancies in the interpretation of the results, particularly in the interpretation of the genes that relate to my East Asian heritage. I was very concerned about this, so I had the tests done by Genebase. Those results and their interpretation completely agreed with 23andme and with what I know of my heritage. Based on this experience and on the wonderful networking available on 23andme, I would firmly say that 23andme is the way to go. The cost is the same for Ancestry and 23andme, but the level of service by 23andme is vastly superior, in my experience. I hope this helps.
