Hello list, It's good to read of those who were working in India, under the Raj, but who went beyond the call of duty. I am in the process of trying to put together references to my Gt.Gt.Gt. Grandfather Sir Edward Ryan, who with his wife Louisa and family, were resident in India for a number of years. He did become President of the Asiatic Society, among other posts that he held. He returned to England, and made other contributions to Victorian society. Thank you for those who already contributed, concerning his links with Julia Cameron, the Victorian photographer.
