    3. Hello Liz I was interested in your problem with Mary Margaret who married a Ballantyne because I have Ballentines/Ballantynes in my tree. On checking mine don't seen to be connected to your tree, they were David William Ballantyne 1878 - 1904 and his son Henry James Ballantyne 1899 - 1952. What I have found which may be of interest to you is a James A Tilbury who married Mary Gibson in a Registry Office Marriage in Allahabad, Bengal 1906 - 1911, no exact date given. These books can be found on the shelf at the British Library and some kind person in London may do a look up for you to get further details. It is also on FIBIS but still no further details. Record here; http://indiafamily.bl.uk/UI/FullDisplay.aspx?RecordId=014-000344428 James A Tilbury and Mary Gibson had one child MARY ALICE TILBURY born 21 Dec 1908 and christened 26 Jan 1909 in Jubblupore. James's wife Mary (Gibson) Tilbury died 10 Sep 1910 in Agra. This may in fact be you Mary Margaret Tilbury, names were not always correct and some records can throw you off because of that. Her father, James, may have been called Harry by everyone but his official name could well have been James. Also there is no record of his occupation that I can find. Because Mary Alice's mother died only a year after her birth she may have been placed in the convent orphanage and her name changed/mixed up by the nuns or she took the name Margaret at her first communion. I had problems with my own family records due to these sort of problems. If you have access to Find My Past (some libraries in Australia access) I recommend you check out their records for the above people. It may well solve you problem. Hope this is of some help to you.
