Born about 1786 died 08 Jan 1857. Married 17 June 1799, Berhampore, to William INNES (1771-1850), they had seven children. In the 1851 UK census she was in Bath with her age recorded as 65 born in India, British subject. Her father was Major General Edward RAWSTORNR (1745-1801). She is my wife Brenda's 3g-grandmother. As you can see, I know a lot about her. The one important missing fact is the identity of her mother. I have looked for her parent's marriage in the area of Badsworth, Yorkshire (Edward's birthplace and where they apparently had a home), in the parish indices that have been transcribed to no avail. A record of her baptism may give her mother's name, but most baptism records at that time only give a father's name. Would it be normal for a Major to have his English wife travel with him to India at that time? Alternatively, would an officer marry in India and where should I look for a record? There is an LDS centre near here, but surely I would need to know firstly where a marriage took place. -- Dave Barnett
