I absolutely agree with Maureen on this one. For the key people in your family tree it is very advisable to look at a film or other facsimile copy of the original record. Transcriptions quite often omit information on the original - such as occupations, ages, actual dates of birth and death, notes in the margin, etc. - and may in fact be completely wrong. Looking at the original also allows you to look at the rest of the page and all the entries for that particular year, and that can sometimes throw up completely unexpected and important information on people other than your ancestor, such as work colleagues etc. Best wishes, Noel
