Thanks, Peter I have been researching in Ireland. Thomas HUGHES married Jane Elizabeth STACK in India in 1851. They had several children born in India while Thomas was in the military there. They returned to Ireland about 1861 where they had 3 more children, 3 of their children migrated to the United States around 1880, Richard HUGHES to Maryland, Mary Anne HUGHES to Alaska and Joseph (b India) HUGHES to Oregon. It's the family in India I can't find - Margaret Theresa HUGHES, Catherine HUGHES. They had a daughter Ellen HUGHESs born, died and buried in India. Jane's mother died and is buried Fort William I believe. Peter wrote: I have a connection to the name Stack through my Pembroke side and suggest that you look at Ireland as a source.
