    3. Hello List, For some years, I have been trying to trace my late brother-in-law Roy Ezekiel Minjoot or Menjou, who I presume had his "roots" in Singapore and Malaysia. See note below. My history of him had been in post Independent India, when he married my sister Edna at Lahore Registry Office 14.4.1945. (Lahore is now in Pakistan) I was then 11 years of age. I know he was born 25/3/1910 where ???? and died in Karachi, Pakistan on 28.2.1975. I had only ever known him by the surname MENJOU.but I am given to believe that he changed it to MENJOU from MINJOOT. I have no details as to where and how the name change was made. The Singapore link. After much searching, I have found his name Roy Minjoot, in an article in The Strait Times, 21 July 1934. He is mentioned playing piano at an evenings entertainment at The Singapore Cricket Club along with Frank Braidwood, the international cowboy baritone, and the humorist Jock Carmichael, with Roy Minjoot at the piano. "Mr Roy Minjoot played selections of various modern songs, and also a composition of his own, which well deserved the applause it received." He was an accomplished pianist, and as young as I was I can remember him playing at The Savoy Hotel, Mussoorie. India. My brother in law, was to me a bit of a "mystery man". He had quite a marked American accent, but as far as I know carried a British Passport? Although not orthodox, he displayed Jewish religious signs, by wearing a kippah, yarmulke or kappel, skull cap, and shawl on a Friday. His middle Ezekiel name would be a Jewish name. Does anyone know where the name Minjoot could have its roots? Is this Jewish? If anybody has any more clues as to where I might find out more about ROY, I would be grateful. Trying to complete the family tree, and also give his children information concerning their father/grandfather. Kind regards, Geoff Williams Sheffield. U.K. These rather disjointed
