However, the father's occupation would be given, and if he was in the Army, the regiment also, together with the rank. You would be therefore able to determine whether the father was William Bennett in the 108th Regiment As William Bennett was in the British Army, you may also be able to get information from British Army records. Sometimes the British Army birth records have more details than the India Office Ecclesiastical records, which are what the LDS records are.
