Hi My husbands Great Grandfather was at the jail in Port Blair. He was an Accountant there. His name was Hall Chambers HILTON. He married first a Julia Amelia FRANCKE and had 7 children by her all born in Port Blair. She died in 1883 in Port Blair and he then married Amy Mary MORGAN and had 6 children by her. Hall died at Port Blair in 1913. Several graves of the Hilton family are in the cemetery there. Dear Pamela What I said to Allen earlier applies to you too. The best place for you to start looking for information is to go back through the India List archives at Rootsweb. Much has been posted about the Andamans and the jail over the last 10 years, you will be surprised how much you will learn. As I said earlier, I have posted some death/burial records for Port Blair about 4 or 5 years ago, so the archives will be a good starting place.
