    1. [INDIA] Notation in Bengal burial index
    2. Noel Clark
    3. Quite some time ago I compiled a list of Bengal burials of interest to me, working from films of the indexes held in the British Library. One was in Volume 399 (July-September 1914) and may be found on page 223 of that volume. I have looked at the original burial record - it was of a Rigney Frederick TROTTER, took place in Srinagar, and there is nothing unusual about it. In the index, the entry is for Rigney F. TROTTER., Volume 399, page 223. In the right-hand margin alongside the entry is the notation IS2/152. This notation appears to me to be a cross-reference of some sort, perhaps to another India Office document in the BL. I wrote to the BL asking what it might mean but received no reply. (The BL number of the index film I was reading is Z-N-1-D12.) Does anyone have any clue as to what the notation IS2/152 alongside this particular burial in the index might mean? Thank you.
