David said, Family Search Beta record pages have a space allocated for an image of the original record with the words 'Image is not available online. I assume that this implies that it is the intention to make such images available some time in the future. Does anyone know when this might be? If you go to the link below for Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter he has links to two terriffic videos put out by the LDS Church. One is a tour of their Granite Mountain Vault and the other describes the digitizing process now taking place . Their goal is to digitize all of their records within the next ten years and put them on the FamilySearch website. These are the digitized images now showing up on their site. Many of the images are free to download but some collections will lead you to a paid site such as Footnote. If any of you are not aware of Dick Eastman's (almost) daily free newsletter I highly recommend that you sign up. He covers a wide range of topics related to genealogy and regularly posts information on updates to the beta FamilySearch site. Also, on the right hand side of the page are links to previous newsletters. http://blog.eogn.com/eastmans_online_genealogy/2010/07/granite-mountain-records-vault-videos-online.html I hope this is helpful to everyone.
