Hello, I continue to investigate the life of George Cumming. He died in December 1800 on board the Anna, somewhere around the Cape of Good Hope. The ship's journal states that his effects were transferred to a Danish ship. The captain's handwriting and syntax are both problematic so I can't tell if his body was, too. My questions relate to the effects and the Danish ship. 1. Does anyone have any knowledge or thoughts about what these effects might have been? 2. At DKR 575/hr (I think that about US $ 100), the Danish archives are willing to undertake a search of their records to find out the name of the Danish ship and whatever other relevant information they can find about the transfer. Obviously, they cannot guarantee that they will find anything. I am mighty curious but the price is steep, I think. Has anybody had any experience working with the Danish archives? Best, Frances Singh
