Hi Susan - many thanks for your help - the Ernest who was born in 1880 in St Michael's Penkivil in Cornwall England - is my man - he seems to have returned to England in 1906 from the USA - and other kind listers sent me information that he then went to S. Africa (where one of his brothers had emigrated) and died there in 1909.      Very many thanks to all who have help to solve this mystery !   Thelma.
