    3. Dear All, I am searching for any information on Captain (later Major) Edmund Pascal or Pascall who served with the Madras Army from 1745 onwards. I know he was an Ensign in 1747 aged 25, and that he was an officer who was wounded in Draper's Sortie at Chingleput, Madras in December 1758, and that he ended up as Town Major of Madras. (Info from Google Books) He also seems to have owned slaves. Unfortunately I only have access online to the Index of 'Vestiges of Old Madras', so cannot read the actual text referring to him. *1756 Diary & Consultation Book Vol 5 Pages 136 & 172 [Google Books] Fort St. David, 12 May 1756* : Capt. Edmund Pascal in the Service of the East India Company and Commandant at Fort David being duly sworn in... *1767 Madras Baptisms [Google Books]* 31 July, William Barry, slave to *Captain Pascal*; 31 July, Thomas Johnson, slave to *Captain Pascal* *Masonic Lodges, Madras [Google Books]* In 1767 Captain Edmund Pascal was appointed Provincial Grand Master on the Coast of Coromandel and the Presidency of Madras. *VESTIGES OF OLD MADRAS Index - References to Captain Edmund Pascal* Draper's Sortie, Vol II, 556; at Chingleput, Vol II, 597; Town Major, Vol II, 615 [Madras] I also know he had two daughters, *Mary Pascal,* who married Lt. (later Lt. General) Thomas Geils of the Madras Artillery on 3 Feb 1773 at Madras [N/2/1.f.351] and *Frances Pascal *who was the first wife of Alexander Murray McGregor, (or MacGregor Murray) Colonel, HEICS. Frances died in Edinburgh in 1786. I think he was also the father of *James Pascal,* (who was illegitimate, his mother being Mary de Mount) and chr 29 Aug 1749, Ft. St. David, Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu. [N/2/1 f.238] Buried 18 Aug 1823, at Vepery, Madras (IGI B002005) aged 74, and *Catherine Pascal* who died unmarried at Vepery on 16 Oct 1808, (EIR&D 1810) & was buried in Madras on 17 Oct 1808 (IGI B002005) leaving her brother *Jacob Pascal* as her sole executor. I think I have exhausted all the online sources available to me, so if anyone has any connection to the Pascal family, or knows anything about Edmund, (or can suggest a source I may have missed) I would much appreciate hearing from them.
