After completing 47 years in the British Army I have decided that it is time to find information regarding my family in the past. I am starting with my Grandfather Samuel Mullen who was born in India on the 8 Dec 1877 in Wellington India. I have managed to get a copy of his Baptism Certificate and his father declares himself as John Mullen, Pte 48th Regt. John Mullen wife is down as Amelia. The church was St Georges Church Wellington Bks India. The Family settled down in the Jhansi area and I understand around 1933/4 Samuel and his wife died and the two boys (one being my Grandfather Joseph Mullen) went into an orphanage and the six girls into a convent. Samuel wife was a Marie Eileen Blance De Courcey Born 1882 and they were married in Jhansi in Aug 1906. I would be more then grateful for any information or for someone to point me in the right direction to obtain more information on my Great Grandfather , who was in the 48th Regt in 1877, and of my Grandfather Samuel who may have been a guard working on the Indian Railways. Have you tried the LDS Beta site (or the Pilot site if you prefer that format) A quick search of births under both John and Samuel turned up several hits as did the the marriages. There is potentially quite a bit of information to be gained, if one seaches carefully.
