Good morning Listers, Not sure if this will reach anyone - I logged a request several weeks ago and have not received a single comment from anywhere. But here goes- An ancestor was Born & Baptized in Quilan Madras Presidency in 1807 The mother of my ancestor was mentioned in the Baptism record (Brit Library) as Maria Tressenah (deceased). I have lately discovered that the name Tressenah could be Trezinha or Terzinha possibly of Portuguese or Indo/Portuguese origin. Where can I search for a possible marriage between this lady and my ancestor who was serving with the 2nd Bn. 6th Regt. Madras Native Infantry (HEIC Army) at the time ? Richard

If Richard has exhausted all avenues at the British Library, and has tried the online directories and periodicals for the period, (http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=Directories_online, http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=Newspapers_and_journals_online) and has access to London, he could try the following possibilities on the off chance there may be something. *The card indexes at the National Army Museum -FIBIS Fibiwiki "National Army Museum" http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=National_Army_Museum *Society of Genealogists- FIBIS Fibiwiki http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=Society_of_Genealogists Richard could also check out directories and periodicals at the British Library for the relevant period. Another slight possibility, providing there is access to London, is to check out the index volumes of Bengal Past and Present to see if in fact there are any relevant articles relating to the Madras Presidency. The index volumes are available at the British Library, and possibly the Society of Genealogists. Cheers Maureen (Sydney)
