According to "Thailand and Burma Handbook 1995", the First Anglo- Burmese War in 1824 resulted in Britain being ceded the Arakan and Tenasserim regions which were ruled from Calcutta, H/Q of the E.I.Co.. Manipur also became part of British India. The Second Anglo-Burmese War of 1852 saw the annexation of Lower Burma by the British. In 1886 they invaded invaded Upper Burma, took Mandalay and imposed colonial rule throughout Burma. brinds
