It has to be remembered that these programmes are contrived and that the aim essentially is to provide entertainment. Would that it were really that easy to find what you were looking for!! The original letters used in the programme are probably either at the British Library or at the special collection at SOAS [School of Oriental & African Studies] at London University, but were presented from India to give local colour to the programme. Much of the information said to have been found in India was probably available at the British Library, but the programme would not have appeared to be as interesting. Regards to the list.
