Ros I suggest you next try searches at the following two sites: 1. British Library - http://indiafamily.bl.uk/UI/ [1] 2. FIBIS - http://www.fibis.org [2] The first reveals James Woodforde baptised 1804 in India, Asst. Surgeon 1829, and a child born in Madras in 1835. Also has details of the passengers arrviing in India that you query in your other post. The fibis search has a little more of the same but in particular records the will of James Woodforde (senior) held at the National Archives. You should be able to get a copy and I imagine will be quite interesting. I am assuming these Woodfordes are the ones your are looking for, it appears likely at first glance but you need to verify this of course. It is also worth searching on the name at Google books (books.google.com) as a surgeon is likely mentioned in many of the journals and peridoicals etc. that have been digitised there. Regards Simon.
