    3. Can any reader help ? I have managed to trace my Gt Gt Gt Gt Grandfather Robert Monckton Grant ( b. in Quebec c1760 d. London 1814) to his srvice with the HEIC Army between 1781, sailing to India on the EIC vessel "Locko" in 1781 and serving in several Batallions/Regiments of the Madras Native Infantry between 1781 & 1808 but regrettably I have become 'stuck' with specific details of what he may have been doing or where he was posted or the wars he may have been involved in during his time in India .(1781-1810 He had a son named James Ludovic Grant Born 17 May 1807 & Baptised on 21 July 1807 in Quilon. On the Baptism record is indicated a wife Maria Tressennah (deceased) Can anyone please suggest where I can look to find [1] more detailed information about the career of Lt Col R.M Grant ( I know he faced a Court Martial in 1807 but was acquitted) and on what ship he and his son would have returned to England. [2] the marriage / death or origin of Maria Tressennah [3] Is this possibly a Portuguese name ? I have seen a Silver Salver at a relative's house reading Presented to Lt Col R.M Grant by Officers at Travancore etc ...... Any pointers to avenues of research most gratefully welcomed Richard
