    3. Hi List, I wonder if anyone has experience of looking at the L/MAR records at the British Library? I'm wondering whether these records/documents make any mention of individuals/employees. I'm looking for information on my 4G Grandfather who was a Master in the HC Marine/ Bengal Pilot service but I'm unsure these records will include this information?? I am wondering whether to make a visit tomorrow, so advice before then would be great :o) I also understand the Caird Library at the National Maritime Museum holds index cards for Marine's during this period and may/may not have information. Again other listers advice/experience and comments are welcome before I head there (which won't be tomorrow, as the Museum is closed on Fridays & Mondays...typical as I have holiday booked for Fridays and Mondays!!) Thanks Bev

You might ask the helpful staff behind the Information Desk to show you a copy of "Baxter's Guide" and point you in the right direction. Baxter's Guide has several pages describing the records of employees in various capacities. If you decide to go there on Saturday, you might like to call in the morning to the FIBIS 'Surgery' where an expert will be pleased to explain how to find what you want. This is to be held at the Hughes-Parry Hall in Cartwright Gardens, 5 minutes walk from BL. (Details on our web-site - www.fibis.org ) Good Hunting!
