    3. Hello List: *Frances said: Has anyone on the list ever come across an account, diary, memoir, even a historical novel, that describes what people did during those long voyages? I am particularly interested in the period 1790-1810, and to be very precise, would like to know what children did on their way to England to pass the time. But any tip will be useful. * I had interested myself in this area of British India travel when I was researching on my book:* "A match made at Madras:Margaret Maskelyne: [1735 -1817]: Lady Clive : Her life and times" *and found myself immersed not only in this form of sea travel but also in the life on board these ships that Margaret Lady Clive would have used: I found the following books and documents useful in the building up of a picture. I do not have the exact period required by you but here it is anyway: !: Jean Sutton: The memoirs of Wiliam Hickey[London: Hurst and Blackell] 1913 - 25, 4 vols, 1925: "Lords of the east : the East India Company and its ships": 1981: ISBN: 0851777864 2: Russel Miller and te Editors of Time Life Books: The east Indiamen"1980 3: John Borthwick Gilcrisit, East India Vademecum. Digest of the work of capt Williamson,Lodon Kingsbury, Parbury and Allen,1825 4: Annabel Venning: Follwoing the Drum: The live of Army Wives and Daughters: Pastand Presnt: Headline: 2005 pag 40 and 39 With regards John.
