    3. Hello List Tas said: I am searching for the family of Samuel Peevers of the 73rd Regiment that departed Van Diemans land in 1814 for Ceylon, on the way Samuel died, I am trying to find where and how His Wife and two children moved to after they arrived in Ceylon? Samuel Married Mary McCloud in 1810. The FIBIS Fibiwiki has a page 73rd Regiment of Foot http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=73rd_Regiment_of_Foot The links indicate that the regiment stayed in Ceylon until 1821 I think the most likely outcome as to what happened to Mary Peevers and her children is what usually happened with regimental widows- they remarried a soldier in the same regiment, usually within three months of their widowhood. If she and her children survived the years in Ceylon, they would have travelled with her second husband back to England in 1821. I tried the British Army Overseas index. There is a link on the FIBIS Fibiwiki page http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=Chaplains_Returns There is no Mary Peevers listed in the marriages, but a Samuel Peevers married in Gibraltar in 1850-1859. The GRO also has some unindexed regimental marriages, for which they will do a search. Cheers Maureen (Sydney)
