Hello Listers, I was able to access the passenger list inside the ship's journal that carried Jane Cumming to England. I knew that she had been accompanied by an ayah, but discovered that she also travelled with a younger brother. The younger brother seems to have fallen below the historical radar. I am assuming that he died but can find no OPR death record on Scotlandspeople or Ancestry.com. There is the remote possibility that he was sent back with the ayah, but that would involve searching through more ship's journals. That in itself would not be all that time-consuming because there weren't all that many EIC vessels that made the journey each year and not all of them stopped at Calcutta ports, but I am not in a position to do that research right now. Any suggestions about what happened to this child or how to find out what happened to him? Frances
