Hello List David said: Does anyone know if there are any records of the IMS operations in the Middle East during WWII? The FIBIS Fibiwiki page "Doctor" http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=Doctor lists a book available at the British Library called "Surgeons twoe and a Barber. Being some account of the life and work of the Indian Medical Service, 1600-1947" by Lieut.-Colonel Donald McDonald 1950, which appears to have some information about World War 2, but exactly how much is unknown. Another possible source is to search the British Medical Journal for the war years to see if there are any mentions of the IMS. The Journal is available online, see the FIBIS Fibiwiki page Doctor for links. If David is interested in an individual, perhaps the Indian Army Records of Service IOR/L/MIL/14/239/1-72481 at the British Library may be applicable., noting that currently a person must have joined the Army (or possibly the Army Reserve) by 1935 for the records to be open.
