Hello List Vicki said: Frank & Elizabeth Archer were believed to have had two children who died in India as well before they went back to England and subsequently emigrated to Australia. Could someone suggest how I check the passenger lists to find them, either on the trips to and from India and to Australia from England. Their first child born in Enfield Australia was born in March 1888. I suspect they paid their own way to Australia so it will be hard to find them. The FIBIS Fibiwiki "Passenger Lists" http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=Passenger_lists has links for *Ancestry , which has UK incoming passenger lists 1878 - 1960 containing the names of people arriving at United Kingdom ports from places outside Europe, so Vicki may find a record here. *FindMyPast, which has UK outbound passenger lists 1890 - 1960 . However these dates are outside Vicki's range. Unless Vicki has evidence the family returned to England before migrating to Australia, it is possible they travelled directly from India to Australia. If the Enfield, Australia is the Enfield in Sydney, the NSW State Archives at the Rocks has microfilms of shipping records, but I'm unsure of the date range. I was looking at 1913, (without success unfortunately) Cheers Maureen (Sydney)
Apologies to Maureen, it was she who provided the advice re shipping records, not Shirley. Must have had one of those old timers moments... Robin
