    3. Re my earlier posting in search of Thomas Taylor born c. 1815, I have found one Thomas Taylor, who fits the bill, born around Sept 1818. He is listed as an orphan, his father Thomas Taylor, Sergeant in 14th NI, Madras area, the note states that he died 'on foreign service in AVA'. Can anyone enlighten me on where Ava is, and also would it be possible to find Sergt Thomas Taylor's army records. This is the best lead I have had so far, and I it would be wonderful to be able to fit a few more pieces to the puzzle. Thanking you in anticipation Rosemary

    3. Rosemary, Just checking on that, it seems the 14th NI aren't listed as having been to Burma at that time, so you can ignore the link I sent. It seems there is either a mistake on the record you have, or else he was attached to another regiment or service for duty in Burma. If there is no mistake then you should be able to find him in the muster rolls of the 14th NI. Peter Bailey's excellent book available from FIBIS will guide you through this process. good luck, Mark
