Hello list Vicki asked about Shipping records and Shirley provided some good advice. Another suggestion is that many of the Australian records to and from Sydney have been indexed and digitised by Mary Anne Warner and volunteers. These can be searched at http://mariners.records.nsw.gov.au/ Also, the National Library of Australia is in the process of digitising all historical Australian newspapers and it was common to publish passenger and shipping movements in the local press. I have had some real wins finding people here when I could not trace them on the shipping records. Often the newspapers report names of all passengers, not just initials or Mr and Mrs too, so often more valuable. Go to http://www.nla.gov.au/ and search under the Australian newspapers tab on right hand side. Good luck! Robin
