Hello List Susan said: A lead for James Sanderson is that I found he may have been an asst. surgeon and his wife may have worked for the medical service as a nurse. If someone has a listing of asst surgeons I would appreciate any information you may find in a look-up for me. The FIBIS Fibiwiki page Doctor http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=Doctor provides links to the following. Hi, I am new to this list and would like some help please. Does anyone know where I can find the Military service record for my ancestor who serviced in India and Died in Myanmar. John CAMERON b. abt 1841 Scotland. Was in India in the army supposed to be the Welsh Fusiliers as some sort of Medical Person. Married Martha Woods on 26 Feb 1863 in Ferozepore, India and had 9 children. He died on 13th Dec 1927 in Maymyo, Myanmar - and it was reported that when he died he had a military funeral with a gun carriage. I am trying in vain to find his service record. I am going to the Local L.D.S. Centre on Monday as I have found the marriage to Martha and births of his children, and I will order the films. I have tried the records on Ancestry with negative result. I have tried to contact the Welsh Fusiliers but their archives are being moved and the web site doesn't say they are open yet. I have tried the British Library but they cannot say of they have indexed names and just tell me like the National Archives how much the cost will be to get someone to search for me as I cannot get to London or Kew. I hope there is someone who could help me as I seems to have tried everything. Many Thanks Penny

I read on this site that the original marriage papers would show a lot of information about the bride and groom. Charles Smith and Mathilde Sanderson were married on 14 Feb 1861 in Old Fort William, Calcutta. Other than the church registry what would be available as far as marriage records? If there is additional info to be had where would I find and request copies the records or documents? After looking since 1997 for this family last month I found Mathilde Sanderson, dau of James, was born in Paris, France. She and her children sailed to the United States from Hamburg La Harve in 1872 on the ship Selesia. I have not found her husband Charles in the United States or setting sail. Their last child, Lilian S. Smith, was born in Gotha, Germany. Sadly, I followed 3 of the 4 of the children who came to the USA to their demises and I have no direct living relatives. A lead for James Sanderson is that I found he may have been an asst. surgeon and his wife may have worked for the medical service as a nurse. Hello List De said: This is certainly a major effort, and should be commended, but beware....not all persons are on this large list. I had previously found quite a few Wallis from my tree in the Census lists on the FIBIS site and looked for them on this site, thinking that I might have been able to add to those I had. Sadly most of the ones I already had were not there. The information for the data on the FIBIS site advises it is for the 1881 census. So it is a different data set to the data on the spuddybike.org.uk website mentioned by Liz which is for 1841-1871 Cheers Maureen (Sydney)
