Mr Abraham Roebuck, supercargo in the Honble the East India Company's Service and Jean Lidderdale had a lawful daughter born at Macao in China 3rd, baptized 17th February 1780 & named Anne. N.B. Dear Maureen I have tried to find these records as I think my great grandfather attended the school but am unable to find them on the schools website. Old Sanawarians requires a user name and password. Hello List The following is a post from the Family Search beta site Feedback section called "Update from Product Management - Pilot vs Beta" The link is http://getsatisfaction.com/familysearch/topics/update_from_product_managemen t_pilot_vs_beta or http://tinyurl.com/2742pev I'm not sure how permanent the links is, so if it doesn't work try the following: https://beta.familysearch.org, click on feedback near the top right of the screen, then click on "recent activity", a bit of the way down the screen, then scroll down until you find the above post. For anyone who has used the beta site, and has any issues with anything, I suggest you make your views known by making a comment on the Feedback and Community Support page. Take this opportunity while the site is still in its development stage. Cheers Maureen (Sydney)

I am very interested in the point you raise as I want to order some films to see at a Centre some 30 miles away, but if they contain nothing more than we can see from their www, there is no point. Hello List For anyone interested in the Lawrence Military Asylum, Sanawar, now called the Lawrence School Sanawar, there is great deal of information in the form of Annual Reports (from 1873) etc, available online on the Lawrence Schools 's website as pdf files. In particular, there is an Annual Report containing a list of all the children in the school at 31 March for the years 1876-1885 inclusive, and 1893-1896 inclusive. Date of entry to the school is also given and whether the parents have died, or are still alive. Some lists contain additional information about the father such as regiment, and whether the child is of European or Eurasian background, however the additional information given (if any) does vary. The Annual Reports for the years between are missing, and the lists of children do not appear prior to 1876, or after 1896. However there are certainly other documents available for other periods which mention the name of some of the children. More details are in the FIBIS Fibiwiki page "Lawrence Military Asylum" http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=Lawrence_Military_Asylum Cheers Maureen (Sydney)

Hi Carol, Looks to me like he married two sisters, but the only definitive way to tell would be to look at the marriage records of the individuals concerned. Best wishes Liz Researching Chater or Armenians in India and Hong Kong in 2010? Please go to www.chater-genealogy.com.
Hi again folks, It now seems that the signature on the bottom corner of this hand tinted photograph of the above couple has been added to the photograph after it was hand coloured - presumably not by the photographer but by the artist who coloured the black and white photograph after completing the job. I have contacted Hugh who can not find the name Carlyle amongst the names of photographers in India during the early 1900s. It may well be the name of an artist in NZ, who was given the job of hand colouring the photo prior to it being framed to hang in my grandparents' front parlour in Invercargill. NZ. My next search is to see if the original photo has a photographer's stamp of signature somewhere on the original photograph but that's in NZ and I'm in OZ. Thanks to all who sent me suggestions, Cheers Ainslie.
Hi Mark I'm sorry I should have put in more detail of where and when for my Ansell/Angell dilemma. It would have saved you a bit of unnecessary research - but thank you for your time and interest! It is always a dilemma how much detail to put. I was hoping someone would come and claim the family for me! Charles Henry Ansell (1852 - 1882 India) married Hannah Mary Anne Jane Cooper in Bengal, India in 1878. They had 3 children Arthur Henry Cooper Ansell (1879 - 1880), Charles Henry Ansell (1881 - 1926) and Nina Viola Adelaide Ansell (1881 - ). As you can see they could not be the Angell/Ricketts connection in England. After her husband's death. Mary Anne Jane Ansell married Frederick Ricketts in India in 1886, having a further 4 children (that I know of) - Alfred and Vera, twins born in 1887 died in infancy, and Mona (1890 - ) and Albert (1891 - 1942). I think I have just found a strong connection to Mona Ricketts, who may be able to shed some light. So I hope that helps with any possible connections Hi Rachel, I think you need to look at records from the UK. Ancestry has the marriage in St George-in-the East in London, 1888 of Charles Henry Angell. The list of marriage banns for that year shows his bride as Elizabeth Ricketts. This marriage certificate would certainly help on your question.

India Deaths and Burials, 1719-1948 India Marriages, 1792-1948. The description adds "A few records may be earlier or later". This is all I have to go on. I have not seen any documentation about which British Library records are contained in the LDS beta records, in spite of trying to find out. Someone advised the records do include the N/5 series, (in addition to the N/1-3 series), this was found out through looking at the microfilms, but to date these are the only "extra" records I am aware of. Your contact at your local centre may be correct about the post 1947 records being included, but I do not know. I would ask about the source of the information you have been given. I think a lot of people would be interested to know exactly what Indian records have been included on the LDS beta site.
