"NEWVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, located at 7480 SR8, Newville. The Newville United Brethren Church was organized in 1842 by Bishop Henry Kumler, Jr. The meeting place was the log home of Mr. and Mrs Solomon Woodcox, located on the east side of the road about two miles west of Newville, then called Vienna. There were eleven charter members, some of whom were as follows: Mr & Mrs Solomon DeLong, Hannah Robertson, Mr & Mrs Cornelius Woodcox,...." Mary Woodcox one of pioneer settlers that died in 1883. <Descendants of Solomon Gee of Lyme, Connecticut> compiled and published by Charles E. Benjamin-1981 {Charles was a friend and "cousin" on both my Gee and Koch lines of DeKalb Co.} p324. The mother of Maurice Headly died when he was about eight months old, and he was taken by Cornelius and Mary Woodcox with whom he lived on their farm until 33 years of age when he married [15 Apr 1883] No 690. Ophelia May Gee. {Ophelia M. Gee was a sister to my gr grandfather Samuel Denman Gee.} 1850 Census: 17 Aug 1850. No Maurice Headly in Cornelius age 42 bp PA and "Polly" Woodcox family. Solomon Woodcox age 40 bp PA was probably a brother. No biographical writeups for Cornelius, but some misc. information that may be helpful. Dick in Maryland.
