Surnames: Sandoe, Alvord Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Th.2ADI/2088 Message Board Post: Looking for a Nancy Alvord (b. abt 1817 PA died about 1909 OH) who married a William B. Sandoe (b. 1815 Dauphin Co, PA, died about 1890 - possibly OH). They had - at least - the following children: Henry H., George W., James W.N., Minerva, Agnes and Sherman Grant Sandoe. (My ancestor is George W.) William B. Sandoe usually went by Rev. W.B. Sandoe and was a traveling minister. Have only been able to find him on the 1880 census - very frustrating. I know from 1851-1852 they were in Perry County PA, then I didn't pick up their trail again until 1872 in Dekalb Co, IN. I know the family has ties to other Sandoe's living in IL, OH, VA and western PA. >From a family bible we know that Nancy had a brother William H. Alvord and have actually found a bio on him on the net. That bio listed him as the son of George Alvord and Mary Shumper, that he was born in Dauphin County, unfortunately it did not go so far as to list the names of his sisters, only that he had 5 sisters and 5 brothers. Four of his brother's names were listed: H. Fred; David; George and Jacob. Anyone heard of this family?
