I am sure there is something out there that links it together better. William Lewis was born 1797. His first child was named John. His second child was named Samuel. So, I am going on the premise that his first child was named after his father and his second child named after his grandfather. There was a Samuel Lewis listed in Westmoreland county on a petition to Governor Penn from Hanna's Town (Greensburg). Maybe there is some information in Carroll Co. Lewis' history that would give more information about their history. Were they Welsh or German?

He is buried in Harrison township, Carroll County, OH. I have a photo of the grave taken June 2004. I was searching for his wife, Charlotta Yockey Ringle Lewis, in Westmoreland County, PA. A researcher there had done some research for someone and found them signing off property when Jonathan Lewis' father died. Charlotta and Jonathan Lewis married between 1811 and 1816. Mathias Ringle died in 1811 and she signed papers for her children as Charlotta Lewis in 1816. I do not know if they married in PA or OH. Jonathan had been married prior to Charlotta and had other children, but I do not know who they were.

William and his family moved East to Jackson county, Ohio between 1823 and 1830. His parents are unknown and must have been living in Westmoreland/Indiana County, PA sometime before 1797. Johnathon Lewis is found on the 1790 census for Westmoreland county and appears to be the likely father. If you have any Carroll County, OH Lewis information, I am sure that we can piece things together. Thanks!

He was living with Henry Hull in 1850 in Knox County, OH. This is my major brick wall. Thanks, Pam
