I would very much like to share information with you. I have only recently put a hole in one of my brick walls and discovered that my ggg-grandparents were David H. SMITH and Margaret TREESH. I was in DeKalb County a few days ago and found their graves. Their daughter, Susan SMITH, my gg-grandmother, married George BARR. I am interested in any information on the these families.

    2. (Christian) Union Cemetery is located one mile north and one mile west of Garrett, on the North side of State Road 8. The Cemetery is visible from Road 8. Turn north when you get to County Road 7 and the Cemetery is on both sides of the road. The old part of the Cemetery is on the East side of the road with all the trees. Steve

I have run across those William/Catherine family Humbert baptism records, maybe from you in a former posting on another board. Not sure. I did not have the other Humbert records (George). I thought William and his brother David came from Pennsylvania and were sons of Frederick Humbert, however, now that I think about it Frederick may have first settled in Maryland and then went on to Pennsylvania. Where did you get the church records? Did you write to the church to get records for a particular name or is there a way to access all of the records for a particular timeframe? I'm interested in seeing who else might have been in the same church at around the same time. Would you be able to tell me how to go about getting church records? Email me if you'd prefer. About your Hubler/Humbert name theory, it's entirely possible, but so far I can't find any concrete evidence. Thank you so much for your response.

    2. Bill Wilcox
    3. I am hoping to find others researching the HARTMAN, MERTZ and WEIRICH families who migrated to De Kalb and Noble County areas from Wayne Co., Ohio ca early to mid 1800's. My Great Great Grandparents were Leonard HARTMAN and Maria MERTZ. John and Elizabeth (RUPP / RUPE) WEIRICH, were my Great Great Great Grandparents. I feel like there must be others who are researching the same families. I would love to find photos of any of my Grandparents, their ancestors, OR their families, including their siblings. Please, if you have any information at all or photos you can share, I would love to hear from you. I don't want original photos, copies will be just fine. I would be more than happy to share the information I have, with others. Thanking everyone in advance. Sharon Wilcox wilcoxphoto@dmci.net

From records of St. Jacob's Church; Landowners in Jackson Twp. by 1827, HUMBERT, WM. and HUBLER, Abraham. Just a hunch but I think your HUBERTs came from Maryland. Perhaps Hannah married a HUBLER, had Oliver, first husband died so she re-married a PUTT, Oliver goes by PUTT because that's who raised him but for the government he went by his legal surname of HUBLER.

I found a legal notice that Hannah Humbert of Stark Co. was married to Jacob Hubler and in 1849 they were living in Indiana. Oliver Hubler, also known as Oliver Putt, is my great grandfather. I have always known him as Oliver Putt, and just recently discovered that he served in the Civil War from Indiana under the name Oliver Hubler. I am mystified by the Humbert/Hubler connection because I am a also a Humbert descendent through Hannah Humbert's brother. Would love to find out more about the Hublers and unravel the mystery of the two names. If you can follow this, I'd be amazed. It's difficult to get down on paper. If you have any info or ideas, could you email me?

    2. DeKalb Co., IN Surnames: LOCKHART, McBRIDE, HARTMAN, GUSHWA, QUAINTANCE, WING My GGG Grandmother was Mary A. Mahr/Moore, b. 8 July 1806, d. 1892. She married Philip Gushwa, b. 7 Sept 1802, d. 1884, in Holmes Co., Ohio on 20 Nov 1825. She was the daughter of Elizabeth & Jacob Mahr. Philip & Mary Gushwa were both born in Pennsylvania, but natives of Ohio and moved to DeKalb Co., IN in 1835. In 1873 Philip sold 40 acres of his property to his wife's eldest brother, Jacob. They moved to DeKalb Co., IN from Holmes Co., Ohio. Probably no connection, but thought I'd mention it. I haven't worked on the Gushwa Family for quite awhile & never did have much luck with the Mahr/Moore Family. I should look for Mary's obituary here in DeKalb Co., maybe I could get some leads from it. > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: HAUK/HOUCH/HOUGH, RHOADES/RHODES/ROTH, MOORE/MOHR, BALMER/PALMER > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Th.2ADI/2184.1.1 > > Message Board Post: > > I have HAUK/HOUCH/HOUUGH and RHOADES/RHODES/ROTH ancestors who were of German > heritage.
