I found a burial inscription of "John Hough, d. Sept 6, 1866, at 59y, 7m, 3d" on the DeKalb County website. The gravesite is in New Auburn Evergreen Cemetery, DeKalb County, Indiana. This is the right timeframe for my John Hough and I am hoping there might be an obituary or some other information that would have some of his family members' names in it to assist in finding out if this is the John Hough I am looking for. Thanks so much.

I have learned the following from his obituary from Williams County, OH. Amos Myers, born 5 Aug 1820 <?> and abt. 1836 his family moved to DeKalb Indiana. Two years (1838) later he moved to Ohio to live with his Uncle George (Williams County). Married Anna (Luke) Donut in 1852. Died in Ohio 1908. Trying to decide if Jacob Myers who moved to DeKalb 1837 with his wife (Susannah Donut) and died in DeKalb County Nov 1881 could be Amos' father. History tells us that Jacob and Susannah moved to Crawford County, OH in 1828 and to Indiana Sept 1837. I so want to believe that Jacob is Amos' father!! Can anyone in DeKalb.. or anywhere help me to make the 'connection'? Are there any obituraries from DeKalb County that might mention a sibling? How about Jacob's death in 1881, any obits during that period??

Surnames: Mortorff Smith Frets Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.dekalb/2725/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My great-grandfather Archibald David Frets was adopted by Daniel and Rebecca Frets by 1880. He was born in 1875 in Waterloo. From the family records, I am led to believe his biological parents were connected to the Mortorff (or Mortoroff) family of DeKalb County. My best guess is that his parents were Catherine Mortorff and George S. Smith. I have no proof to this though except for best guesses. I am looking for anyone that may have a Mortorff connection that could help or anyone that knows of any adoption records for the county. Daniel and Rebecca Frets took Archibald to Missouri by 1880.
