    3. It is on the edge of Hamilton, on the DeKalb side. Steuben holds most of Hamilton, however, the school and many residents live on the DeKalb side. That would be just south of the tracks. Robin, I, too, know of Georgetown, however, I am currently trying to find out how it got its name and why it was "forgotten". Any clues? 3. I am looking for information on my third great grandfather, Robert McNabb. He was married to Prudence Parsons. He came to the DeKalb County area in the late 1850's. I have found his wife's obituary, and several of his children, but not his. He supposedly died in Butler on or around October 12, 1975 (or possibly 1973) at the home of his son Daniel. His son John Oliver McNabb was my second great grandfather. John had a sister, Elizabeth who lived in Auburn and married Lafayette J. Miller, and a brother named Daniel, who lived in Butler. Daniel used to run a hotel in Butler. I would love to find Robert's father's name. I believe I know who his father is but I can't prove it. If anyone can help I will be very grateful. I've been stuck at this point for about 4 or 5 years.

    1. Missing a Male Hoosier Ancestor, 1830< born >1846?
    2. Greg Reeves
    3. If you're missing a male ancestor that was born between 1830 and 1846, it's poosible that he was one of the nearly 460 Civil War soldiers aboard the Sultana steamship that exploded on the Miss. River, 7 miles N of Memphis, TN on 27 APR 1865. Indiana was exceeded only by Ohio and Tennessee for having the most soldiers aboard. While 2 in 3 Hoosiers aboard survived the ordeal, the rest never made it home. You can search by surname for your ancestors at the following URL: http://www.rapidnet.com/~greg/Tom/Indiana/INSult.html While you're visiting, be sure to follow the link back to my tribute page to my GGG Uncle, 10th Indiana Cavalry, at URL: http://www.rapidnet.com/~greg/Tom You won't regret visiting, I promise!
