Of many LIBEY families that follow, I have more info than I have listed and will gladly share and am interested in any info I can obtain (descending or ascending) -- particularly in info on the William and Elizabeth ? LIBEY family. They had several children in Richland County during 1830s/1840s. According to family history (I have all spouses/offspring for many generations), William was born in PA in 1816 (Cumberland Co? or Perry?) and died in DeKalb Co., IN in 1849. William and Elizabeth had the following children: Margaret (Peggy) LIBEY b: 1835 OH; George E. LIBEY b: 1838, Richland Co., OH; David D. LIBEY b: 1840, Richland Co., OH; Mary Ann LIBEY b: 1842 Richland Co., OH; Jacob Ora LIBEY b: 1844 Richland Co., OH; Rachel LIBEY b: 1846 Richland Co., OH; and Elizabeth LIBEY b: 1849 DeKalb Co., IN. William may have been a son of John and Polly FOHT LIBEY (and John may be a son of George and Eve Dunkel Libey). Info on some of John and Polly's children follows: Catherine LIBEY b: 1818 PA married Philip SHAMBOUGH in Richland Co, OH in 1841; Susan LIBEY b: 1820 PA married Daniel BURROUGHS in Williams Co, OH in 1843; John Frederich LIBEY married Elizabeth RICHEY in Williams Co, OH in 1843; Simon LIBEY b: 1828 PA; Benjamin LIBEY b: 1830 PA married Lucy Ferguson in Lenawee Co., MI in 1853; Lucy Ann LIBEY b: 1832 PA married John LOSEY in Lenawee Co., MI in 1853; and Sarah LIBEY b: 1838 OH (Richland Co, OH ?) married Howland Ferguson in Lenawee Co., MI in 1854. Not listed is Margaret LIBEY who married George LIBEY in PA - they moved to MI , near her relatives, in the 1850s (also have much info on their offspring....). Another (probably related) LIBEY (extended) family can be found travelling in the same counties at the same times. George LIBEY b: 1786 in PA married Margretta ? b: 1792. They had the following children: William b: ABT1813, Maria b; ABT1814, John L. b: ABT1816, Margaret E. b: ABT 1817, Jacob S. b: ABT1818, and Isabelle b: 1828. Particulars on the offspring of the preceding sentence follow: William and Lucinda ? LIBEY are found in Brady Twp, Williams Co, OH in the 1850 census with the following children - George b: ABT1838, John J b: ABT1839/40, Cornelius b: ABT1841/42, Margaret b: ABT1843/44, and Catherine b: ABT1849. Maria LIBEY married Samuel Marvin ROCKWELL in Richland Co., OH in 1836. John L. and Catherine Blocker LIBEY are found in Brady Twp, Williams Co, OH in the 1850 census with the following children - Sarah b: ABT1839, George b: ABT1842, Jonas b: ABT1844, John b: ABT1846, and Catherine b: ABT1852. Margaret E. LIBEY married George ROCKWELL in Richland Co., OH in 1836. They are found in Brady Twp, Williams Co, OH in the 1850 census with the following children - Malissa b: ABT1837, Frederick b: ABT 1839, and Oscar b: ABT 1847. Jacob S. LIBEY married Elizabeth BLOCKER in Richland Co., OH in 1838. He is found with new wife Anna ROCKWELL (married in 1846 in Williams Co, OH) in Madison Twp, Williams Co, OH in the 1850 census with the following children - Jacob (Elizabeth's child) , Samuel (Elizabeth's child), Mary (Elizabeth's child), Leroy b: ABT1849, and Laroy b: ABT1849. Jacob and Anna ROCKWELL LIBEY also has William LIBEY b: ABT 1853 and Melissa LIBEY b: ABT1864. After Anna's death, Jacob married yet again. Isabelle LIBEY married James LAUGHLIN in Williams Co, OH in 1847. Is there a way to fix this? >> Yes, it's a very easy fix. Open the document in Notepad, enlarge the page to fit your screen, then cut each line shorter by hitting the enter key at the end of each line. You'll also have to bring some parts of lines back up, to format it nicer. It's easy when you get used to it though. You just hit the enter key wherever you want the line to end. When you do a document in a word processor type program (microsoft works etc) it automatically wraps the lines around....but when it's uploaded as text it is most like Notepad. Attached is a reformatted file of the methodist.txt file if you need it. Kathy PS. I'm the coordinator for Lake County and do a LOT of obits, bios, etc in this format so it comes easy to me now :) --part1_9ddd9de8.24933046_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; name="METHODI.TXT" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Disposition: inline; filename="METHODI.TXT" Source: HISTORY OF DEKALB COUNTY, INDIANA. B.F. Bowen & Company,=20 Inc., Indianapolis, Indiana, 1914, pp. 202-203. METHODIST PROTESTANT CHURCHES. The Methodist Protestant organization at St. Joe was brought into=20 existence in the year of 1886, and from those humble beginnings has=20 developed into a hustling and progressive society of one hundred=20 members. Rev. W. H. Lineberry was the pastor who assisted in organizing=20 the church. The church edifice was built in 1888, the same year as the=20 Disciples church. The building cost thirty-five hundred dollars. At this=20 writing, Rev. G. C. McCaslin is in charge of the society. The first=20 trustees were Frank Ingle, George Bleeks and Sol Barney. The Sunday=20 school, Ladies' Aid Society and Christian Endeavor add greatly to the=20 interest of the church. The Methodist Protestant society has small=20 churches at Concord and Fairview also. The Rehoboth Methodist Protestant=20 church was organized sometime in the year 1840, at the cabin-home of=20 Samuel Tarney. The charter members were: Amariah Johnson and wife,=20 Nathan Wyatt and wife, Abraham Johnson and wife, John Wyatt and wife,=20 William R. Moore and wife, Samuel Tarney and wife, William A. Squires=20 and wife, and Samuel Widney and wife. These sixteen persons constituted=20 the first church organization in Jackson township which was known as the=20 Bear Creek class. There being no church house, services were held at the=20 cabin-homes of the early settlers; for some time later the regular=20 services were held in a log schoolhouse located on the farm of Amariah=20 Johnson, now owned by William Johnson. Special meetings were either held=20 in the groves or at the double log barns of the settlers. Some years later a church was built a short distance north of the log=20 school house. The building was a frame structure and was considered=20 quite elaborate at that early day. This church was known as the Bear=20 Creek church. Here services were held until the fall of 1881, when the=20 old church was considered unsafe and was abandoned. This old building=20 was the scene of many a gracious revival and many hearts were made happy=20 in a Savior's love. After abandoning the old church, the place of holding=20 services was at the Bear Creek schoolhouse, a half mile west. Under the=20 pastorate of the late Rev. F. M. Hussy, during the winter of 1881 and=20 1882, an effort was put forth for the erection of a new church house.=20 It was with some difficulty that a suitable location could be found. It was finally decided to build on the site where the Rehoboth church=20 now stands, and the building was completed at a cost of twenty-one=20 hundred dollars. Owing to the difficulty in securing a location, Mr.=20 John S. Boots, one of the donors, thought that the proper name for the=20 church should be Rehoboth, and wished the honor of naming it, which=20 privilege was accorded him. In the fall of 1913, this church house=20 underwent repairs ot the extent of eight hundred dollars. To be in=20 keeping with the progress of the time, a basement has been put under=20 the church, a furnace and modern lighting system installed, and an=20 addition made. The first religious service held in Jackson township was at the home=20 of William Watson in 1839, and the preacher was Rev. Jalnes T. Robe,=20 of the Methodist Episcopal denomination. Rev. Lewis Hicklan, missionary of the Methodist Protestant church, came=20 to Jackson township in 1841, and organized a church. Today there are in=20 the township several churches: namely, Church of God, Methodist=20 Protestant and United Brethren. Below is further information that has been forwarded to me. PLEASE NOTE: Please don't ask me about the information below. After you read it you'll know as much as I do. ------- I received the following information from Rob Chesnut, Associate General Counsel for eBay. The company has been made aware of the legitimate concerns we have regarding the auctioning of used grave markers - an act which is both offensive and criminal. If you have , questions or comments you can contact Rob Chesnut at (408) 558-5948 or [email protected] . =========================== FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 4, 1999 eBay has recently been contacted by citizens who have expressed concern over the fact that several historical tombstones have appeared for sale on the eBay site. We share your concern, and will not permit these items to be sold on our site. This release is intended to answer several questions that have been raised in connection with these items. First, eBay does not sell or possess the items on its site. eBay is a venue where users post items for sale, and sellers complete transactions directly with buyers. eBay does not, and has never, possessed any historical tombstone. Second, as an Internet Service Provider, eBay cannot and does not pre-screen items posted on its site. While eBay rules strictly prohibit the posting of illicit items such as tombstones, it cannot guarantee that all its users will abide by these rules in posting items for sale. When eBay learns that an illicit item is on its site, it promptly removes the item. However, with approximately 2 million items for sale at any given time, and with over 250,000 new items placed on the site each day, some illicit items may go unnoticed for several days. We depend on our community to work with us in locating and identifying illicit items so that we can quickly remove them. In this case, eBay has promptly removed every tombstone brought to its attention, informed the sellers that such markers are not allowed on the site, and refunded all fees in connection with these auctions to ensure that eBay has in no way received money for this activity. To discourage future listings of tombstones on the site, eBay will also be posting rules on its site shortly regarding the sale of artifacts which will specifically inform users that the sale of historical tombstones is illegal in many states and is prohibited on eBay. eBay has received information that at least some of the items brought to our attention are not tombstones, but historical grave markers given to families of Civil War veterans. In many cases, these grave markers were never actually used as grave markers, but kept by families as mementos. In those instances, the markers are not stolen property, and if they were never used as for tombstones their sale may be lawful. eBay is investigating whether these items can be lawfully sold, and will post information on the site when it makes a final decision. eBay will be contacting law enforcement and encouraging authorities to investigate whether historical marker posted on its site was stolen. eBay will cooperate fully in any investigation of illegal activity, and will provide records to law enforcement on the sellers of any illegal item. eBay appreciates the efforts of those who have contacted us concerning these postings. Concerned law enforcement authorities or interested citizens may contact Associate General Counsel Rob Chesnut at (408) 558-5948 if they have further questions on this matter. --part2_b5f614bf.246389fd_boundary-- --part1_b5f614bf.2463a667_boundary--

In 1851 he moved to DeKalb Co. [History of DeKalb Co., IN -1885, page 713. Henry Hull b 24 Mar 1834, eldest son of Hiram Hull and Sarah Sloan, natives of Ohio and of German descent....reared by grandfather Henry Hull living with him from age of 2 to age 26. At age 15 his grandfather moved to DeKalb Co., Orangeville, IN. OH 31 Mar 1831. Their daughter, Mary Ann Jenkins married Joseph Koch in DeKalb Co., IN and I am a descendant. Could you explain your notation Augustus HULL (Jenkins)? In 1840 Knox Co. we find the following Hulls: Hiram Hull, Harrison Twp William Hull, Harrison Twp and others in different twps., including John Hull, Howard Twp. History of Knox Co. 1803-1881 by N. N. Hill states John Hull, farmer, P.O. Howard, born in Washington Co. PA in 1806, went to Wheeling VA at age 6 (1812), to Coshocton Co. [OH] at age 18 [1824]. I think your Augustus Hull must be descendant from one of above Hulls. I'd be interested in what you find out. I need to place my Margaret Hull also. :) Dick
