Among other private residensces wheere preaching was held prior to the bulding of Mt. Tabor Church, was at the house of George Smith, in the Mt Tabor neighborhood. The class that worshiped at the latter place erected a hewed log meeting house probably as earsly as 1818 or 1820, and possibly a little before. I t stood on the same site of the present church, tha ground for both church and burial purposes having been given by George Smith. In 1850 the log meeting house was replaced by a brick building, which was dedicated that fall by Dr. Simpson of Cincinnati, OH. The building was blown down by the storm of 4 Jul, 1873 and was rebuilt, adnd rededicated 2 aug, 1874. Mt Tabor is an apppointment on the Dillsborough Circuit, which is made up of Dillsborough, Mt. Tabor, Green's Chapel and Hart's Mills Originally this chur! ch was on the old Lawrenceburgh circuit. At the churchyard there is quite a large place of buial, which is as old as the church itself. Here rest the reamins of many of the first settlers of the county, and among them many who were identified for years with the church, beneath the shadow of which their bodies are returning to dust from whence they came. Among the early interments and aged persons whose graves are maked by inscribed tombstones ae the following: george smith d in 1828, joseph smith d in 1832, ralph smith b 1767 d 1835, esther, wife of ralph smith d in 1842 age 67 years, ELIZABETH WHEELER, died in 1828. David McKitterick, d in 1855,age 71 years Abraham Gullet died in 1849, age 68 years, martha wife of abraham gullet died in 1860, age 73 years, robert gulliet of DE died in 1843 age 56 years rebecca wife of robert gullitt d in 1870 age 84 years, jacob flemming d in 1833 age 61 years , mary wife of jacob flemming d in 1853, age 70 years, john gullitt d in 1858 age 78 years, solomon hubbard died in 1! 835 age 47 years, mary wife of aquilla hume died in 1832, age 46 years, frances glenn wife of DC Hope died in 1874, age 75 years, mary brumble b in 1789 d in 1842, george golding b in 1791 died in 1848, isaac miller d in 1837, age 58 years, hannah wife of isaac miller died in 1852 age 72 years, wm abbott died in 1860 age 72 years, elizabeth, wife of wm abbott died in 1854 age 61 years, w p beckett died in 1866 age 72 years, mary wife of wp beckett d in 1863 age 69 years.
