Under the heading of Aurora Items, lists the source as 'The Advocate.' "Died, at the residence of her father, Mr. L.G. Elder, in Hogan township, on the 23d inst., of consumption, Mrs. Eliza J. Roberts, consort of Omar F. Roberts, aged 33 years, 11 months and 20 days. The deceased was born on the 3d of August, 1836, on North Hogan creek, where under the ripening influences of a Christian home, she grew to womanhood, developing a strong natural mind, allied with great fortitude, and yet softened by the kindly graces that adorn a woman's life. She was married on Christmas day, 1860, and was the mother of one child, which died on the 17th of April, 1863. Several years since she made a public profession of religion, and at the time of her death was a consistent member of the M.E. Church at Aurora. For the past eighteen years, Mrs. Roberts has been an invalid, her disease, consumption, slowly yet surely wearing away her life. Her sufferings were borne with fortitude, and no murmur of complain ever escaped her lips. When the final hour came, and a few moments before her death, she called her husband and relatives to her bedside, shook hands with each and bade them all farewell, rejoicing that her afflictions were at an end, and assured them that her rest would be in heaven."
