    1. [INDEARBO] Death of Addison Bookwalter
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Bookwalter Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Sh.2ADI/1824 Message Board Post: Source: The Lawrenceburg Register, May 7, 1874 ed. "Addison Bookwalter, for many years the editor and publisher of this paper, died at his residence in this city last Tuesday afternoon. Never enjoying good health, he had been failing rapidly during the past year, and last week, while at Indianapolis, he was taken worse and brought home, gradually sinking until his death resulted as above stated. Mr. Bookwalter was born in Ross Co., Ohio, Oct. 17, 1829. At an early age he was apprenticed to the printing business and upon attaining his majority commenced publishing a paper in Chillicothe, O. Being burned out in 1852, he came to Lawrenceburgh the next year, and engaged in the publication of the Register, which he continued for about 17 years, when he sold out to the present proprietor. Subsequently he published a paper for a short time at Mattoon, Ill., since which time the state of his helath has prevented him from engaging in any active employment. Mr. Bookwalter was a man of considerable ability as a newspaper man and a man of business, in which capacity he succeeded in surrounding himself with warm friends. As a husband and father his best qualities were developed, and the grief of his orphaned family testify how great is their loss. He had his faults, like other men, but among his friends they will soon be forgotten, and the remembrance of his virtues only will linger among those who knew him well enough to appreciate what was manly and noble in his character. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church yesterday morning, Rev. Mr. Little officiating. The remains were deposited in the City Cemetery, where we trust he may rest in peace, and the work of his life be revised and approved by the Great Author." NOTE: I am not related, and have no further information on this person.
